An Maindilin Home of "The Glass Slipper"

| The home of some of
the most exciting Irish, Scottish and related music on the web!
Some time ago it occurred to me that although many players of Irish and Scottish music have opted for the mandolin (an maindilin in the Irish language), the sheer volume of the instruments against which the mandolin has to compete in most session contexts tends to drown out its subtleties. So, I set out to create a space on the web where the mandolin can be heard in all its glory, and where superb mandolinists can be heard playing those traditional rhythms and tunes which have come down to us through the generations. I hope you enjoy listening to the music as much as I have enjoyed compiling it. On the final page of this subsection of the Pay The Reckoning site, you will have the opportunity to make a donation to make sure that this great music continues to be made available to the mandolin community. If you can afford to pay a little towards our running costs, then all donations are gratefully received! Aidan Crossey, October 2006 |
